Friends Annual Meetings

The Friends Board of Directors hold monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 5pm. The meetings are open to the public. The Friends also hold an annual meeting in January. For more information visit the Friends Connection Calendar.

JEDI SCHOOL WITH JEDI MASTER ANDY ZANDY
Wednesday, June 7 at 2:00PM

Our Summer Reading kick-off program will be a high-energy, out-of-this galaxy event. Award-winning Bay Area "Family Favorite" Andy Zandy will instruct and entertain Summer Readers with an introduction to Jedi School.

Remember to come early as tickets are handed out on a first in line basis, first served basis and seating is limited. We hand out tickets 30 minutes before showtime.




FAMILY GAME DAY
Thursday, June 8 at 2:00PM

Beat the heat and come down to the Ripon Library for some board games and family fun! Starts at 2:00 and ends at 4:00. Fun for all ages! No sign-ups required! Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Book Discussion Group for Adults
Thursday, June 8 at 6:00PM

Book Discussion Group meets once a month, on the second Thursday at 6:00 p.m. (unless noted). The book selections are made by the librarian, to ensure that there are plenty of copies. If you are interested in joining please come in, meet the librarian and get a copy of the "next" book and questions. Be prepared for a lively exchange of ideas and insightful ruminations that will make reading a book a "shared and enriching" experience!


Musical Robot Show

Jason Adair and Scott Namanny are Musical Robot. A comic duo that's engineered to get kids moving and dancing.

Ukulele and drum music, singing, dancing and over-the-top silliness guarantees a memorable afternoon. Seating is limited, so come early. Tickets are handed out on a first in line, first served basis.


Family Movie: Queen of Katwe

Grab a bag of popcorn, settle into a comfy chair, and enjoy watching the Disney movie, Queen of Katwe! Movie is rated PG. Fun for all ages! No sign-up required! Room will open at 2:00, the movie will begin at 2:15.


Dance Around the World with Nikola Clay

Nicola Clay knows dance! She has studied traditional dances around the globe and believes that through movement we connect to other cultures and to understanding others. All the world needs to dance, especially children. So come ready to move, groove and feel good. Seating is limited so come early. Build a Better World: Green Craft

Ventriloquist Steve Chaney and Cornelius Crow

Steve and Corny have been performing together for over 20 years. They know each other pretty well, but there are always surprises. Lots of fun, laughter and audience participation: you may find out what it's like to be a puppet!

Tea & Coloring for Teens & Adults

Relax with a cup of tea, something small to color, and gab with other guests during our second Tea & Coloring event! No sign-up required. For teens and adults. Light refeshments and plenty of fun tea options!




Puppet Art Theater Presents: The Three Little Pigs

Puppet Art Theater always delivers a fun and family-friendly puppet show. This performance will feature "The Three Little Pigs" as they work hard to build a house that the wolf can't blow down! Our programs are very popular. Please come early as we have limited seating. Tickets will be handed out 30 minutes before showtime.

Kirk Waller has been telling stories for over 20 years. He masterfully fuses together spoken words, rhythm, music and movement to create an unforgettable storytelling experience.

All About Baby

On Thursdays at 10:30AM at the Ripon Library, special baby storytime for newborn to 18 months old and their caregivers, includes simple rhymes, activities, and books to encourage intellectual and social growth.

Preschool Storytime

Tuesdays at 10:30AM storytime for preschoolers and their parents/caregivers features stories, songs, fingerplays, movement and lots of fun. Lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Beginning Yoga and Pilates

Wednesdays at 6:00PM. Certified instructor guides students through easy yoga and pilates movements in a one hour session.

It's Great to Have Friends

Everywhere you turn, there is news about the budget challenges facing the Stockton San Joaquin Library system which includes the Ripon Memorial Library. Articles have been written that include the possibility of a reduction in service hours, privatizing and layoffs.

While there is much uncertainty, the Friends continue to support, raise funds and advocate for the Ripon Memorial Library. Since the 1970's, the Friends have carried out our mission statement which includes year round support for the Ripon Memorial Library. While the economy has dealt community libraries a tough hand, Friends groups have continued to step up and provide help when it is needed the most. As an advisory group, the Ripon Friends continues to ensure that our work does not stop and are continuing to provide funding for programs, materials and educational resources that are requested from the Ripon community. Our commitment to our mission and to the Ripon community is the driving force behind our keep moving forward efforts. Changes are sure to come but the Friends are committed to providing all that the community has come to expect as our members have empowered us to do.

LIMITED SEATING

Due to limited seating in our Library Community Room, free tickets for our Special Events & Performances will be required. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning ½ hour before each show.
